The Tasmanian Devil, also known as the Tassie Devil, is the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world. It's native to the island state of Tasmania in Australia and is the iconic symbol of the region. Its ancestors can be traced back to the time of the dinosaurs, making it a living fossil.

Fun Fact: The Tasmanian Devil is known for its loud and aggressive screeches, earning it the nickname "devil". But in reality, it's a shy and solitary animal, only making vocalizations during mating or when competing for food.

History: The Tasmanian Devil has a rich history in Tasmanian Aboriginal culture, with depictions of the animal found in rock art. Unfortunately, due to the introduction of non-native species, their numbers have drastically declined, and they are now considered endangered.
